§ Mr. EggarI assume that the hon. Member is referring to Foreign and Commonwealth Office staff on secondment to European Community institutions. In the current financial year the Foreign and Commonwealth Office will only have one member of staff on secondment to the European Community institutions, in this case the European Commission. No expenditure will be incurred on education costs.

§ Mr. EggarThe estimated expenditure in this financial year is £8,239,143. This covers the education of children of members of Her Majesty's Diplomatic Service, including staff of the communications departments and members of the Home Civil Service currently on secondment to the Diplomatic Service.
