The Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State, Department of Transport (The Earl of Caithness)Safety of navigation is the subject of the work of one of the special assessment teams considering the CFL proposals. There has been a preliminary discussion with the Secretary General of the International Maritime Organisation and it has been agreed that further contacts should be deferred until the British and French Governments have announced which scheme, if any, should go ahead.
