HC Deb 06 December 1985 vol 88 c359W
Mr. Wallace

asked the Secretary of State for Energy if he will make a statement on the future plans for the fast reactor programme beyond 1990.

Mr. Goodlad

My right hon. Friend the Secretary of State for Energy announced on 16 January 1984, at columns 47–48 that the United Kingdom had joined a European collaboration for the joint and long-term development of fast reactors through signature of an intergovernmental memorandum of understanding with France, the Federal Republic of Germany, Italy and Belgium.

I subsequently reported on 24 May this year, at columns 586–87, that the Government's general policies on the United Kingdom's participation in the collaboration had been set out in a letter from the Secretary of State for Energy to the chairman of the UKAEA, copies of which are available in the Libraries of both Houses.
