Mr. Ron Brownasked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs what recent steps have been taken to seek to secure the release of Robert Maxwell and Michael King, two British citizens held in Libya; and if he will make a statement.
§ Mr. RentonMr. Maxwell was convicted and sentenced by a revolutionary court and Mr. King by a civil court. Both men are currently serving prison sentences. The legal process has not been exhausted in either case and it would therefore be improper for us to intervene.
