§ Mr. WhitneyThe main Government-funded body supporting cancer research is the Medical Research Council which receives an annual grant-in-aid from the Department of Education and Science.
During the last five years, the Department of Health and Social Security has provided support for research related to cancer amounting to £6.4 million.
I understand that the Scottish Home and Health Department has provided £1.3 million for research in this area during the same period.
