HC Deb 04 December 1985 vol 88 c227W
Dr. Godman

asked the Secretary of State for Education and Science if the national advisory body for higher education is currently considering any proposal to reduce the number or scope of courses in universities or colleges leading to qualifications in social work; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Walden

No. The national advisory body for public sector higher education advises my right hon. Friend about the academic provision to be made in public sector institutions only. The NAB plans student numbers in terms of broad programme areas, not of individual subjects or courses. My right hon. Friend has not yet received advice from the NAB on the disposition of student number targets or financial resources in 1986–87.
