asked the Secretary of State for Trade and Industry what was the United Kingdom trade balance in pharmaceutical goods in the last 12 months for which figures are available.

In the period from November 1984 to October 1985 the United Kingdom had a crude trade surplus of £824 million in medicinal and pharmaceutical products.
