HC Deb 04 December 1985 vol 88 c251W
Mr. Best

asked the Secretary of State for Trade and Industry what information he has as to the present consumption of goat cheese in the United Kingdom; and how much is imported in both volume and money terms.

Mrs. Fenner

I have been asked to reply.

There are no official statistics on the consumption of goat cheese in the United Kingdom and goat cheese is not separately identified in United Kingdom trade statistics. It is understood, however, that some 130 tonnes of goat cheese was exported by France to the United Kingdom in 1984. Information from the industry suggests that domestic production is very small.
