Mr. Alfred Morris

asked the Secretary of State for Education and Science, pursuant to his reply to the right hon. Member for Manchester, Wythenshawe, on 25 November, Official Report, column 397, about deaf, blind, physically handicapped and other disabled children, what he estimates would be the cost of collecting the information he was requested to give the House.

In order to collect this information, it would be necessary to check the destination of every pupil who has left one of these schools since 1981. Since the Department does not know the form in which these schools keep their records, it is impossible to estimate the cost or feasibility of such an exercise.
