§ 19. Mr. Pavittasked the Secretary of State for the Environment if, in the light of the recent visit by the then Minister for Housing, the hon. Member for Eastbourne (Mr. Gow) together with the hon. Member for Brent, South and the right hon. Member for Brent, East (Mr. Freeson) to see homeless families in bed-and-breakfast accommodation in Paddington, he will make a statement on the provision of further resources for people in such accommodation.
§ Sir George YoungHomeless families want permanent accommodation as soon as possible. To that end we are making £3,253 million available for housing capital investment in 1986–87. The local authority share is £2,532 million, which is 9 per cent. up on this year. Of this, £1,465 million will be available for housing investment programme allocations to local authorities. Individual allocations will be announced shortly.
