§ Mr. TraceyIn August this year it was decided not to allow Basildon development corporation to proceed with the roofing of town square on the financial terms which were then proposed. At her request, on 25 November I met the chairman of the corporation, together with my hon. Friend and my hon. Friend, the Member for Billericay (Mr. Proctor) to discuss the corporation's concern about this decision and to see whether a way could be found of allowing the project to go ahead, I recognise the benefits 259W which roofing town square would bring to the town centre, but I must also be satisfied with the financial aspects of any proposal.
