§ Mrs. Dunwoodyasked the Secretary of State for the Home Department if he will publish the names of the rape crisis centres which receive Government grants, specifying the grants allocated for the years 1985–86 and 1986–87.
§ Mr. MellorThe rape counselling and research project receives a grant from the Department of Health and Social Security. The amount of the grant for the financial years 1985–86 and 1986–87 will be £22,000 each year. Local rape crisis centres are not provided with direct Government funding, but can apply in the same way as other voluntary organisations for financial assistance 163W under various general Government programmes, such as the urban programme. The Department has no information about the number of rape crisis centres which are funded in this way.
