Mr. Wigley

asked the Secretary of State for Wales if he will list in the Official Report those bodies with which he consulted concerning the possibility of establishing a Welsh language development body; and if he will state the basis on which he decides with whom to consult on such matters.

The bodies which were consulted formally are listed below. In addition my hon. Friend the Member for Monmouth (Sir J. Stradling Thomas) met representatives of six bodies having a particular interest in the Welsh language. The selection of the bodies to be consulted on this matter, as in other cases, is based on the relevence of their particular responsibilities and functions to the matter under consideration.
