HC Deb 02 December 1985 vol 88 c108W
35. Mr. Watson

asked the Secretary of State for Transport when he expects to receive the conclusions from the Transport Users Consultative Committee which will be holding inquiries into the proposed closure of the Settle to Carlisle railway.

Mr. David Mitchell

I understand the transport users' consultative committees for north western and north eastern England are planning to hold their public hearings into British Rail's proposal to close the Settle-Carlisle line in March and April 1986. I would not expect to receive their reports until the late summer at the earliest.
