HC Deb 02 December 1985 vol 88 c97W
Mr. McNamara

asked the Secretary of State for Defence (1) where service police are trained in interrogation techniques besides Ashford training centre, Templer barracks, Kent;

(2) how many of the Army's, the Royal Air Force's and the Royal Navy's special investigation branch trained at Ashford training centre, Templer barracks, Kent.

Mr. Stanley

Service police and special investigation branch personnel do not train at the joint services interrogation wing, Templer barracks. The interrogation training at Ashford is quite different from the training in interviewing given to service policemen which is conducted by each of the services at, respectively, the Naval Regulating School, Portsmouth, the Royal Military Police headquarters, Chichester or one of its subsidiary establishments, and the RAF Police school, RAF Newton.
