HC Deb 02 December 1985 vol 88 cc31-2W
Mr. Nicholas Winterton

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department what representations he has recently received concerning flexible licensing hours for public houses.

Mr. Mellor

Since 24 October, we have received five letters from hon. Members on behalf of constituents, one letter from an organisation, and 10 letters from members of the public about permitted opening hours for on-licensed premises. Of the 16, 13 supported relaxations in the law and three were opposed.

Mr. Nicholas Winterton

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department if he will introduce legislation to allow more flexible licensing of public houses.

Mr. Mellor

I refer my hon. Friend to the reply given to a question from my hon. Friend the Member for Southampton, Test (Mr. Hill) on 26 November at column516.
