HC Deb 02 December 1985 vol 88 c39W
Mr. Wigley

asked the Secretary of State for Wales how much money has been made available by the Welsh Office for the combating of drugs problems in Gwynedd during the present year; how much is likely to be actually spent on this work; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Mark Robinson

Forty four thousand and five hundred pounds has been made available in 1985–86 to Gwynedd health authority to fund the appointment of two community workers to provide advisory and counselling services for drug misusers and their families and a specialist health education officer concerned with addiction. A further £10,000 has been made available to the health authority for the production of a Welsh language curriculum pack on drug education. I understand that the health authority's current estimate is that £40,000 in total will be spent in the financial year.
