§ Mr. RaisonHer Majesty's Government responded immediately to this disaster by providing two RAF Puma helicopters and one Hercules aircraft from Belize to help with rescue operations. The British ambassador in Bogota was authorised to purchase locally such essential items as electric generators. In addition, medicines, food, tents and other urgently needed relief items were sent.
