§ Mr. Spearingasked the Secretary of State for Trade and Industry what assessment he has made, or has requested to be made, of the long-term impact of a Channel fixed link on each of the main industrial areas of Britain and that of north-eastern France, in as far as it will affect those areas in the United Kingdom.
§ Mr. Peter MorrisonAn assessment of the proposals for the Channel fixed link is being carried out jointly by the British and French Governments. The assessment will take account of all aspects of the proposals, including their economic impact.
