§ 40. Mr. Shersbyasked the Secretary of State for Defence what is his policy for ensuring better control of stocks of defence equipment held by his Department and of contracts for the supply of new and replacement stocks.
§ Mr. LeeMy Department has in hand a comprehensive appraisal of the levels and methods by which stockholdings are determined and various improvements, to an already very carefully controlled area, have been 123W recommended. These improvements will involve refinements to costing techniques using through-life costing principles, refinement of ADP systems, increased use of direct supply, further rationalisation and the introduction of executive responsibility budgets.
