§ Mr. Spellerasked the Secretary of State for Defence if he will list the basic pay and allowances of a soldier in the Devonshire and Dorset Regiment holding the rank of major, lieutenant, sergeant or private while stationed in either Northern Ireland, England, West Germany or Gibraltar.
§ Mr. LeeThe information is given in the following two tables for the ranks of personnel requested. Basic pay is the same wherever soldiers serve. The figures for pay quoted are the maximum and minimum daily rates of pay for male officers and soldiers. The maximum rates for soldiers include the highest level of length of service increment payable. In addition, personnel serving in Northern Ireland receive Northern Ireland pay, which is £2.15 per day for all ranks.
