§ Mrs. Renée Shortasked the Secretary of State for the Home Department when he proposes to undertake the full review of the Magistrates' Courts (Children and Young Persons) Rules referred to in the Government reply to the Second Report of the Social Services Committee, Session 1983–84, Cmnd. 9298.
§ Mr. MellorThe review of the rules will go ahead when the outcome of the review of the substantive child care law which my right hon. Friend the Secretary of State for Social Services put in hand following the committee's report is sufficiently clear. As was indicated in the Government's response to the report, new rules will need to reflect any changes which may be made in the substantive law, and the current review is addressing a number of issues that are relevant to court procedure.
