HL Deb 29 April 1985 vol 463 cc111-2WA
Lord Graham of Edmonton

asked Her Majesty's Government:

What consultations are taking place between the Department of Energy and the Department of the Environment to ensure that landscape and environmental considerations are taken into account when permission is granted for the extraction of gravel.

Lord Skelmersdale

Consultations between the Department of Energy and the Department of the Environment on the environmental effects of gravel extraction are at present confined to the work of the inter-departmental committee which is considering the use of waste materials in highways schemes. I refer to the answer I have given in response to a similar question from the noble Lord.
