20. Mr. Powellasked the Secretary of State for Energy what plans he has to meet the chairman of the National Coal Board to discuss implementation of the revised colliery closure review procedure.
§ Mr. Peter WalkerI understand from the National Coal Board that a sub-committee of the Coal Industry National Consultative Committee, set up to discuss the implementation of a modified colliery review procedure, has now had its first meeting. The committee consists of representatives of the three main coal industry unions—NUM, NACODS and BACM—and the National Coal Board. I hope their discussions will lead to early agreement.
