§ Mr. Kilroy-Silkasked the Secretary of State for the Environment what evidence he has of damage to the environment and to wildlife by the use of nitrates by farmers.
§ Mr. WaldegraveI am advised by the Nature Conservancy Council that research carried out by the University of East Anglia has shown that some damage to aquatic vegetation in ditches and rivers within the broads area may have occurred as a result of high levels of nitrate. Further research is to be undertaken.
