HL Deb 23 April 1985 vol 462 cc1113-4WA
Lord Molloy

asked Her Majesty's Government:

Whether they will consider holding a public inquiry into the strategic plan of the South-West Surrey Health Authority, in view of the apprehension expressed by professional associations and the general public.

The Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State, Department of Health and Social Security (Baroness Trumpington)

The South-West Surrey Health Authority, along with all other health authorities, is required to produce a strategic plan in line with national and regional policies and resource assumptions. South-West Surrey recently issued a draft strategic plan for consultation and all comments received have been taken into account in preparing a final version which has now been sent to the South-West Thames Regional Health Authority. A regional strategic plan, covering all thirteen districts' plans, will be submitted to the department for approval in June 1985. As, therefore, not only have all locally with an interest had the opportunity to comment on the plan in the draft stage, but also those comments are now being considered in full, there is no reason for central intervention such as that proposed.
