§ Mr. Steelasked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food (1) if his Department's estimates of publicly-funded agricultural research and development given in the debate on 13 March, Official Report, column 412, included the amount spent in the university sector;
(2) what representations he has received about the cut in his Department's budget for research and development; and what proportion of these favoured an increase in the research and development budget;
(3) if he will make a statement outlining the main objectives of Government-supported agricultural research; and what long-term plans existed for such research.
