§ 38. Mr. Gerald Bowdenasked the Secretary of State for Social Services whether the Committee on Medical Aspects of Food Policy or any other Government medical panel has reported a direct relationship between diet and the incidence of cardiovascular disease.
§ Mr. John PattenNine of the 10 experts who produced the report on diet and cardiovascular disease for the chief medical officer's committee on the medical aspects of food policy believed it likely that coronary heart disease would be reduced through a decrease in fat intake, although the panel agreed that evidence fell short of proof. They concluded that a relationship between diet and other cardiovascular diseases could be considered only on the balance of available evidence in each case.
