§ The Prime MinisterDuring my visit to Sri Lanka I met several representatives of the Tamil community, including some holding ministerial and other Government 259W positions, and a leader of the Tamil United Liberation Front, the former Member of Parliament, Dr. Tiruchelvam, with whom I had wide-ranging talks about the inter-communal problem.

Many British companies are active in the countries that I visited, and I was able to support their efforts by underlining in my talks the strength of our industry particularly in biotechnology, communications, transportation, water schemes and aerospace. I am hopeful that my own talks and the development of closer bilateral relations in future will lead to greater success for our companies.
