HC Deb 17 April 1985 vol 77 cc172-3W
Mr. Tony Banks

asked the Secretary of State for Transport what special provision has been made by his Department to enable cyclists to cross the proposed South Woodford to Barking relief road.

Mrs. Chalker

Cyclists will be able to cross the relief road at all its interchanges with existing roads, including the A13 where an existing cycle track will be continued through the new junction. In addition, footbridges provided or adapted as part of the scheme at Watson Avenue, Highbridge Road, Gooseley Lane and Gascoigne Road will have stepped ramps enabling cyclists to push their machines over them. The relief road will, by reducing flows along many existing roads, make conditions on those roads safer and more pleasant for all road users.
