§ Mr. Thurnhamasked the Chancellor of the Exchequer if his Budget calculations of net revenue changes from alterations in employers' national insurance contributions included the public sector.
§ Mr. Peter Rees[pursuant to his reply, 15 April 1985, c. 37]: The figures of £30 million in 1985–86 and £80 million in a full year shown in the Financial Statement and Budget Report are the estimated direct net effects of the proposed changes on the total of employers' national insurance contributions. About two thirds of the net reduction in contributions is estimated to relate to the private sector; the remainder relates to the public sector.
