HC Deb 17 April 1985 vol 77 c165W
Mr. Deakins

asked the Secretary of State for Energy how many dry storage facilities for spent Magnox fuel have been completed by the Central Electricity Generating Board; what proportion of spent fuel can be stored in this way; and what plans there are to extend those facilities to cater for all spent Magnox fuel.

Mr. Goodlad

The CEGB has one dry storage facility for approximately 900 tonnes of spent Magnox fuel located at Wylfa nuclear power station. This is used for the temporary storage of spent fuel from Wylfa prior to its transportation to BNFL Sellafield for reprocessing. The board has no current plans to build new dry storage facilities for Magnox fuel.
