§ Mr. FowlerOn 26 March my right hon. and learned Friend the Home Secretary laid before the House a statement of changes to the immigration rules. From 1 April, doctors and dentists from overseas who wish to practise in the United Kingdom need to comply with the immigration arrangements which apply to most other professional groups, except for those seeking entry for the purpose of post-graduate training in hospitals who can obtain permit-free employment for a period of up to four years.
