§ Mr. Cabornasked the Secretary of State for Energy if, in the light of his announcement that Sheffield will not be among the selected cities for Government financial assistance in respect of combined heat and power, he will support the Sheffield project in any further applications for financial assistance under the European Economic Community's energy saving projects.
§ Mr. David HuntI am happy to give the hon. Member the assurance he seeks. The United Kingdom delegate to the advisory committee for the European Community demonstration scheme, who is an official of my Department, will support a technically and economically sound proposal from the Sheffield CHP consortium provided that there is substantial private sector participation. Preliminary discussions with my officials on the Sheffield consortium's EEC application have already taken place.
