A detailed explanation of the inspectorate's methods of checking pay and the results in 1983 is given in pages 451 and 452 of the October issue of the "DE Gazette". A copy has been placed in the Library. The figures for the number of establishments where pay was checked by methods not involving inspection visits include multiple firms whose head office is located in Wales whose branches are in other areas.
