§ Mr. Arnoldasked the Secretary of State for the Environment whether it is his policy to encourage private enterprise to fund a bid from the British Olympic Committee to hold the 1992 Olympic Games in Manchester.
§ Mr. MacfarlaneBids for staging the Olympic Games are the responsibility of the British Olympic Association and any interested city. It is for them to consider how a viable bid could be funded although I would not expect the public sector to bear the cost.
