§ 27. Mr. Hannamasked the Secretary of State for the Environment what progress has been made in amending the building regulations to incorporate access provision for disabled people.
§ Mr. GowMy right hon. Friend laid before the House yesterday an amendment to the 1976 building regulations. The amendment introduces a new part T to the regulation which requires that access for disabled people should be provided to all floors of all new offices and shops and to new single storey buildings which are open to the public.
The commencement date for the new requirements to come into operation is 1 August this year.
