§ Mr. Gareth Wardellasked the Secretary of State for Transport if, to reduce the incidence of serious face injuries to belted passengers, he will introduce legislation to alter the design of steering wheels and columns.
§ Mrs. ChalkerResearch is being carried out by the Transport and Road Research Laboratory into this subject. This may lead to changes being proposed to the relevant international standards; such changes would have to be agreed before legislation could be considered.
