Mr. Skinner

asked the Secretary of State for Employment what percentage of low-paid workers receiving less than £100 per week in the east midlands in 1983 were women.

Mr. Peter Bottomley

The new earnings survey for April 1983 indicated that for those adult full-time employees whose gross weekly earings for a full week were less than £100, about two-thirds were women.

Mr. Skinner

asked the Secretary of State for Employment what percentage of female manual employees in the east midlands earned less than £100 per week at the latest available date.

The latest information relates to full-time adult female manual employees working a full week in April 1984 and is published in table 111 of new earnings survey 1984, Part E. A copy is in the Library.

asked the Secretary of State for Employment what percentage of (a) male and (b) female workers earned less than £100 per week in the east midlands in the following industries at the latest available date: (i) textiles, (ii) clothing and (iii) hotel and catering.
