HC Deb 01 April 1985 vol 76 c479W
Mr. John David Taylor

asked the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland if he has made any representations about the implications for the Northern Ireland fishing industry arising from Spain's application for accession to the Treaty of Rome; to whom these representations were made; and if he will make a statement.

Dr. Boyson

No; the Department of Agriculture for Northern Ireland is fully involved, along with the other Fisheries Departments, in assessing the implications of Spanish accession for the fishing industry and in formulating advice for ministers participating in the European Community enlargement negotiations. Representatives of the Northern Ireland fishing industry are being kept informed of the progress of negotiations.
