Mr. Janner

asked the Secretary of State for Trade and Industry whether he will now appoint a departmental equal opportunities officer with responsibility for co-ordinating the Civil Service policy of non-discrimination within his Department.

My Department appointed an equal opportunities officer on 5 January 1984.
