§ Mr. Irvingasked the Secretary of State for the Environment whether he is satisfied with the current operation and role of community and parish councils; and if he will make a statement.
§ Mr. WaldegraveParish councils have operated as part of local government since 1894. They continue to perform a useful role in community representation and in administering a limited range of local government services.
Community councils are the responsibility of my right hon. Friend the Secretary of State for Wales.
