§ Mr. Forthasked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food what estimate he has made, or is available to him, of the impact of the possible accession to the European Economic Community of Spain and Portugal on the total level of financial support within the common agricultural policy for wine, olive oil and tomatoes; and what are the implications of the proportion of the total budget of the common agricultural policy represented by this figure in terms of support for dairy products, cereals, beef and sheepmeat.
§ Mr. JoplingEstimation of these future costs is beset by a number of major uncertainties about developments between now and the end of the 10-year transition period. Among these are the response of production in the acceding States to changes in national support prices towards Community levels; the evolution of CAP prices themselves in the light of resources available; and the impact on costs of future modifications in individual regimes, notably that for olive oil.
