§ Mr. YoungerSince 1982 basic training in the use of equipment such as protective shields has been included in the courses provided at the Scottish police college. This is supplemented by further training within forces. A limited number of officers have been trained in the use of plastic bullets but at present no Scottish police force holds stocks of these.
