HC Deb 31 October 1984 vol 65 c1013W
Mr. James Hamilton

asked the Secretary of State for Trade and Industry if he will introduce legislation to exclude National Health Service establishments from the restriction of the Copyright Act with regard to the use of video recorders in hospitals; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Pattie

The Copyright Act 1956 gives owners of copyright in films and broadcast material the right in general to control the showing in public and the recording of their works. The question of recording is under review at present, and will be the subject of further consultations.
