HC Deb 31 October 1984 vol 65 c981W
Mr. Corbyn

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department whether he is satisfied that the psychiatric wing of Holloway prison is a suitable location for prisoners who have proved disciplinary problems.

Mr. Mellor

C1 unit at Holloway prison is part of the prison hospital. It caters for women prisoners who are highly disturbed, who are admitted on the direction of the medical officer. It is inevitable in a prison setting that some of the prisoners requiring these facilities will have presented disciplinary problems. My right hon. and learned Friend has under consideration representations made to him about various aspects of the provision for disturbed prisoners at Holloway.
