§ Mr. Ralph Howellasked the Chancellor of the Exchequer if he will publish in the Official Report the figures and basis of his estimate of 21 October of (a) the level of unemployment and (b) the cost of unemployment plus all job creation measures including youth training schemes for 1985–86.
§ Mr. Peter ReesNo estimates of either the level or cost of unemployment were provided on 21 October. However, the Government will shortly publish their forecasts of economic activity in 1985–86. Government plans for expenditure on job creation measures and the prospective costs of benefits for the unemployed in 1985–86 will be contained, as usual, in the next public expenditure White Paper.
