HC Deb 30 October 1984 vol 65 cc963-4W
Mr. Dobson

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services what steps he takes to regulate investment policies of health authorities regarding investment in companies involved in the production and use of tobacco, alcohol and weapons.

Mr. Kenneth Clarke

I refer the hon. Member to my reply to him on 29 October. Non-financial considerations in relation to investment policies are a matter for the trustees.

Mr. Dobson

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services if he will list the 28 most recent private contracts entered into by health authorities, and give in each case the health authority involved, the company awarded the contract, the company's tender and the in-house tender.

Mr. Kenneth Clarke

The following list sets 28 contracts for cleaning, laundry and catering services which will bring the Health Service total savings of over £5 million a year. The details of tender prices submitted are held by the health authorities concerned, and it is for them to decide whether this information should be made public.
