HC Deb 30 October 1984 vol 65 cc874-5W
Mr. Carter-Jones

asked the Secretary of State for Trade and Industry if he will list all the countries which have now signed the Nairobi protocol to the Florence agreement on the duty-free entry of articles for use by blind and disabled people; how many such articles were admitted in the United Kingdom in the last year for which figures are available; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Channon

In addition to the member states of the European Community, the protocol is applied by Iraq, Barbados, the Holy See, Egypt, Yugoslavia and Portugal; and, until 11 August 1985, the United States of America.

In 1983 in the United Kingdom, 29 applications for duty relief were received, covering some 11,500 articles valued at approximately £724,000.
