§ Mr. Wareingasked the Secretary of State for Education and Science what representations he has received protesting about the present level of travel grants to students in further and higher education; if he intends to introduce changes to the system; and if he will make a statement.
§ Mr. BrookeMy right hon. Friend has received some 1,200 representations of various kinds concerning the new arrangements for meeting students' travel costs. We have no present intention of introducing changes. But if any clear evidence of real hardship were to emerge in future years we should be ready to reconsider the new arrangements.
